
Anthony David Gonzalez was conceived in Torrance on February 27 in 1976. Gonzalez was born in southern California. He attended Huntington Beach High School and was a star basketball and football player. Gonzalez continued to excel in both sports at the University of California, Berkeley. He was instrumental in guiding the team's football team to the 1996 Aloha Bowl. There, he set a school record for receiving nine receptions and was able to tie it. Gonzalez was the basketball coach to the Sweet 16 of NCAA basketball tournament only a few months later. After that, he left the school to enter the 1997 NFL Draft. Gonzalez was selected as the 13th overall pick by the Kansas City Chiefs. Gonzalez played with the Chiefs from 1997 until the year 2008. The Chiefs traded Gonzalez to the Atlanta Falcons. He never caught fewer than 59 passes in Gonzalez's second NFL season.
